This whimsical hare assemblage is made from embossed copper sheet with a mother of pearl button detail, beaded tail and brass whiskers. A birdcage charm dangles from the branches of a copper wire tree and it is all assembled on to a piece of vintage tea plate with handmade porcelain flowers, then coated in crystalline verdigris. It’s mounted and signed on acid free off white card in a cream contemporary style open grain wooden box frame, 230mm x 280mm.
Growing up I trained to be a children’s book illustrator and so I have always dreamed up stories behind my pieces. I do hope this enigmatic hare is enjoying being sung to by the nightingale.
